Pakistan Donates New Computer Laboratory to Gyanodaya School in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, 29 November 2025 — Pakistan has reinforced its longstanding support for education and digital learning in Nepal with the inauguration and formal handover of a newly established computer laboratory at Gyanodaya Secondary School, located in Purano Kalimati, Bafal on the outskirts of Kathmandu.

H.E. Abrar H. Hashmi, Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, inaugurated the new facility during a ceremony attended by community leaders, local government representatives, and prominent civic figures. Distinguished guests included former Governor of Nepal and Vice-Chairperson of the National Planning Commission Dr. Deependra Bahadur Chhetri; Chairperson of the School Management Committee Mr. Ram Babu Koirala; Chairperson of the Teachers-Parents Association Mr. Debakhar Bhattarai; Ward No. 13 Chairperson Mr. Dhruba Narayan Manandhar; Head of District Education Coordination Dr. Samantamani Acharya; Head of KMC Education Division Mr. Keshav Gyawali; and School Principal Mrs. Vishnu Ghimire Rimal.

The participants warmly acknowledged Pakistan’s continued contribution to Gyanodaya School, recalling that the school’s first computer lab—donated in 2013—has effectively served students for the past twelve years. The newly established laboratory features 42 brand-new computers, new furniture, and upgraded flooring, and is intended to support ICT education for higher classes. The original computer lab, after refurbishment, has been relocated to the primary section to enhance early digital learning.

In his remarks, Ambassador Hashmi praised the school’s leadership, teachers, and the local community for their dedication, active engagement, and successful management, which he said had delivered visible and sustainable educational results. Addressing graduating students, he encouraged them to stay rooted in their cultural heritage while embracing modern education and digital transformation. He urged them to explore emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, e-commerce, innovation, and fintech.

Students and community leaders also expressed appreciation for the announcement of a new Nepal-Pakistan Friendship Society at the school. The Embassy of Pakistan’s commitment to support the school’s music and sports societies was warmly welcomed, with expectations that these initiatives will further strengthen the ties between the Embassy and the school—ultimately deepening friendship between the people of Nepal and Pakistan
